Chötrikhang Nup

The east and west Chötrikhang (mchod khri khang) on the north side of the Barkor (bar skor) in Lhasa were both once the property of Sera Monastery (se ra dgon) and housed the teaching throne, from which its name derives, of one of the monastery's religious masters. The west building was also used by the adjacent Jokhang (jo khang) for the making of ritual cakes (gtor ma) used in religious services at the Jokhang. In more recent times, the street-front of the building has been home to a Nepali-owned store.
