This building sits on the northwest corner of the Barkor (bar skor) in Lhasa and probably dates from the mid-seventeenth century. In the past, the house had been the property of the tantra college (sngags pa grwa tshang) of Sera Monastery (se ra dgon). The college rented out parts of the building. It also provided accommodation for monks visiting Lhasa. More recently, the building has housed residences, shops, and a teahouse. The building was renovated by the Tibet Heritage Fund in 1996 and it retains some old stone engravings and paintings.
