Pomdatsang
Pomdatsang (sbom mda' tshang) is a mansion near the southeast corner of the Barkor (bar skor) in Lhasa just across (to the south) of the former Zurkhang (zur khang). A building existed here prior to the twentieth century, but that structure was extensively damaged during the eviction of Chinese troops in the early 1910s. Subsequently the mansion was completely rebuilt by Tsarong Dazang Drandül (tsha rong zla bzang dgra 'dul, d. 1959), a minister in the Tibetan government. The iron beams and railings used in the reconstruction (imported from India) are still preserved. The mansion also features a two-story chapel. In the 1920s, Tsarong moved outside of central Lhasa and sold the mansion to Pomdatsang, a trader from eastern Tibet.
