Tachog Lhakhang

Tachog Lhakhang is located on the left bank of the Pachu River about 5 kilometers before reaching the famous Chuzom river confluence. The temple was built by Drupthob Thangtong Gyalpo (1385-1464), who was also known as Drupthob Chagzampa, or Great Iron Bridge Builder for his engineering feats, building iron bridges for travellers, pilgrims, and merchants to use in the premodern era. Surrounding the temple is an area known as Tachogang. One renovated iron bridge, in the style originally employed by Thangtong Gyalpo, connects the temple area to the roadside. The bridge was restored in 2005 after it had been destroyed by a 1969 flood.
