Dhomkhar Dzong

Domkhar dzong is located above the village of Domkhar facing opposite to Tharpaling facing down over looking Chumey valley. His Majesty the 2nd King Jigme Wangchuck built the Domkhar dzong as the his summer palace in 1937. As the dzong awaited restoration, it was renovated in 2004 to be the residence of the then Trongsa Penlop, now the 5th King of Bhutan. Today the dzong is often usde when His Mahesty travels and east west via Bumthang.
