Shingkhar
Settled around the temple of Kuenkhen Longchen's Dechenling temple, Shingkhar village is located at the highest elevation from among the villages under Ura gewog. A feeder road reaches Shingkhar following the diversion from the main road above Pangkhar passing via Sumthrang village. Shingkhar is translated as 'Shing'-Wood and 'Khar'-House. According to oral accounts, people of Shingkhar in the olden times lived at the south of existing village within the forest of spruce trees in wooden houses. Therefore the name of the village Shingkhar; which means the village of wooden houses. Within the village is the Shingkhar Dechenling temple where one can find the stone throne on which Kuenkhen Lonchen sat and gave a teaching.
