Kuensel Phodrang

The place was known by the name of the palace Kuensel Phodrang built by the Thirteenth Druk Desi Chojey Sherab Wangchuk (1697-1765) on a hill above the area where worlds tallest Buddha is erected today. The ruins of the palacecan be seen even today. Kuensel Phodrang area has now a park opened in 2011known as Kuensel Phodrang park and the world’s tallest Buddha statue measuring 169 feet began its construction in 2007 is complete in 2015. Today it is also known as the Buddha point and the Kuensel Phodrang park among the young youhts.
