Changangkha

Changangkha Lhakhang was built in 12th century by Phajo Drugom Zhigpo. It stands over a ridge above Thimphu city near Motithang. The Lhakhang houses Chenrizig Chuchi Zhel, the 11-headed thousand-armed manifestation of Avolokitesawara as the central statue with the statues of Jampelyang and Chagna Dorji among others. The deity of this temple known as the Gyenyen Domtsangpa is worshiped as the birth deity of children born in JDWNRH national referral hospital in Thimphu.The temple was last renovated in 1998 and major face lift around the temple was done in 2012. In 2014 hostel for monk was also added.
