- Etymology for 爐霍:
A possible etymology is that he word "lu" is from the Chinese name for Dartsedo and "huo" is a phonetic rendering of ཧོར་ (hor). Traditionally it was referred to as ཧོར་བྲག་འགོ (hor brag 'go), highlighting that the people are descended from Mongolians.
It is also possible that the name Luhuo is a phonetic rendering of the Minyak pronunciation for བྲག་འགོ (brag 'go), which is something like "ra ho."
