Nangchen
The Nangchen (nang chen) king was the overlord of the twenty-five tribes in Nangchen. In 1725 the eighteenth king Dorjé Tsewang (rdo rje tshe dbang) was granted the title “Head of One-Thousand Households” (stong dpon, qianhu 千户) by the Qing court. Subsequently titles were also conferred upon lesser leaders who were subordinate to the Nangchen king.
