Rilangthang is one of the eight villages in Norboogang Chiwog. According to oral accounts, Rilangthang means the pasture of gaurs (Bos gaurus). This is because it is said that in the past gaurs used to graze here. Today with the development in the settlement, the gaurs do not visit the area at all.
